Historical record: UACM, November 2012

A two year plus terror campaign against the Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México (UACM) culminated in the violent takeover of all university buildings by armed, well organized commandos, in September-October 2012 (links to some of the videos of the takeovers can be seen in previous entries of this blog). It is claimed that the takeovers are part of a student movement, triggered by an alleged fraud in the university senate elections. The truth is that the takeovers show the unmistakable modus operandi of local political boss and criminal kingpin, Mr. René Bejarano. Moreover, several of the mass organizations influenced by Mr. Bejarano have participated in rallies organized by the "strikers."
In order for you to assess the student participation in this movement, it is important to mention that one of its prominent heads is Mr. Roberto López, a thirty-something hoodlum who was previously expelled from another university (UAM-I) for hitting a professor. Mr. Roberto López has a 6% advance in the curricula after six years of enrollment at UACM.
At this very moment, the local legislature is pressing the UACM authorities (led by its Dean, Dra. Maria Esther Orozco Orozco, see previous entries) to accept a "political solution" that would give the hoodlums a majority in the university senate. This, against both Mexican laws (several circuit judges have failed in favor of the UACM authorities in the last two months) and the internal norms of the university. The proposed majority includes a seat for Mr. Roberto López, and another seat for the convicted rapist Mr. Erick Michelle Weiss Montaño (I am not making this name up,) also a "student" at UACM.
In this forced negotiations, held at the local congress (the ALDF) building, several congresspersons (all part of Mr. Bejarano´s political fraction,) act as "honest brokers" along with the City´s secretary of education, Salvador Martínez della Rocca (a. k. a. Pino, in his time a well known activist at the UNAM) and the local Ombudsman Luis Armando González Placencia. The participation of all of the above has been severely biased in favor of the "students."
Particularly striking is the position of Ombudsman González Placencia, who claims that the violent takeovers are an expression of freedom of speech, that police actions against the "strikers" would introduce violence into the "conflict" for the first time, and that the Dean violates the right to education by not caving in to the hoodlum’s demands. Because of this inexplicable behavior, the UACM´s Dean and Senate have publicly asked the Ombudsman to excuse himself from the negotiations.
Mr. Manuel Granados, head of the ALDF, declared an ultimatum last Saturday, stating that if the dean does not cave in by the day of today, Monday the 26th, the ALDF would issue expedient laws for the ousting of all of the UACM authorities.
